The Pros And Cons Of Whistleblowing - 1901 Words
Whistleblowing is a rather controversial issue, as both sides of the political spectrum have reservations with it, depending on what is leaked and who is affected by it. One of the earliest cases of whistleblowing would be the release of the Pentagon Papers in the 1970s, which had many people in outrage. Some Americans were more angered by the fact that the media would dare to possess and publish material exposing the United Statesââ¬â¢ secret foreign affairs than they were about the fact that their government blatantly lied to them. Currently, whistleblowing is much more common, as it is much easier to leak documents through the Internet, and organizations, such as WikiLeaks, only make it more feasible and less dangerous for the leaker.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It is interesting to note that many people who argue that WikiLeaks is not a credible source are oftentimes the same people who claim that the organization should not be allowed to establish its credibility through ve rifying the documents received from hackers. Edits are not made to these documents unless it is necessary for context purposes as stated in an article in the Global Issues in Context Online Collection entitled ââ¬Å"WikiLeaks.â⬠This allows people to trust that there is no agenda in releasing the documents, since people are allowed to form their own opinions as there is no commentary telling them how the released information should be interpreted. Many people have issues with the fact that WikiLeaks refuses to offer commentary or edit documents to protect national security. According to Bruce E. Altschuler in a piece published in the Political Science Quarterly, some people argue that WikiLeaks is not a part of the press and should therefore not be protected by the First Amendment because it only releases information, unlike the mainstream media. However, the fact that the organization does not report as much as it informs is its goal. Julian Assange said, ââ¬Å"If the press obeys considerations above informing the public, we are no longer talking aboutâ⬠¦an informed publicâ⬠in his statement published on WikiLeaks regarding the 2016 United Statesââ¬â¢ election and WikiLeaksââ¬â¢ possibleShow MoreRelatedThe Darkside of Whistleblowing1021 Words à |à 5 PagesClaims Act, Congress decided to give whistleblowers (or ââ¬Å"relatorsâ⬠) a share of the recoveries that result from their lawsuits to encourage people to step forward and take the risks involved in reporting fraud (Qui Tam Team). A Successful Sports League Director - 2226 Words
There are a number of career opportunities within the world of sports and it is my aspiration to change the world one person at a time. I will continue to assess not only the needs in the organization I am a part of but the current benefits, and recent issues that I have seen especially in the perspective as a league director. In this paper, I will continue to examine my strategic plan to not only become a successful Sports League Director but to also share some improvements I proposed to my director and staff and the outcome thereafter. I will also discuss a few ethical issues and dilemmas in having a sports league organization that I have already noticed and might face myself in the future. My job was to officiate various sports like softball, and basketball within my organization while assisting with a few extra tasks and being in an advisory role for the league director to note of any areas internally that needed development. Privacy will Hit Tipping Point in 2016 â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Privacy will Hit Tipping Point in 2016. Answer: Introduction Information Communication and Technology (ICT) is considered as extended version of Information Technology that has used in every business organization, other workplaces and also at homes by common users. ICT is an integration of telecommunications, computers and other important enterprise software and all these things help individuals to perform their different business activities. If ICT has several benefits then there are also some security and privacy related issues of ICT that cannot be ignored and causing problems for its all potential users. The purpose of making this report is to identify ICT-related ethical issue by analyzing a news article. Here I have selected a news article regarding ethical issue of privacy in ICT. Every user that is using ICT wants privacy for his or her information that is transferred over network while communication, but due to advancement in hacking activities, privacy has being demolished by hackers. Discussion The selected article is Privacy will hit tipping point in 2016. This article is concerned with online privacy of our data. According to this article, the sustainability of online privacy will become so important in upcoming years due to demand of greater protection against hacking issues. It is analyzed that all business organizations that gather and store personal data of users are at high risk because hackers mostly attract towards databases of these business organizations. In this case, privacy is the main ICT ethical issue to resolve by security experts to maintain the trust of customers. Now in upcoming paragraphs, I will emphasize on scrutiny of article by four classical ethical theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, virtue and contract (Taylor, 2017). Classical Ethical Theories Utilitarianism This ethical theory keeps focus on right and wrong results of an action or policy. Moreover, this theory defines that a best selected option should be able to enhance maximum utility. If I analyze article on behalf of this classical theory then I can say that also in this article, those options are mentioned to use that can provide maximum security and privacy to customers data. Besides this, article has also described positive outcomes of maintaining privacy and negative result of not using tools for long term security and privacy of data (SearchCIO, 2017). Deontology This classical ethical theory is based on morality of certain duties or claims and defined that these actions are right or wrong in themselves (Riemysore.ac.in, 2017). Eventually, this classical theory identifies that which thing can make an action right rather than emphasizing on consequences of actions. In article, the main requirement is maintenance of privacy of data of users. It is a right action and must be taken by business organizations those collect users data. This will result in increment in believe of customers on company and performance of company will be improved (Techterms.com, 2017). Virtue Besides above discussed two classical ethical theories, another ethical theory is virtue. This theory claims that ethics are related to representatives not actions or consequences. This theory basically emphasize on development of good habits of a particular personality (Sevenpillarsinstitute.org, 2017). It means virtue believes in creation of good character traits and avoid bad character traits. If I analyze the article on behalf of virtue theory then I can say that here individuals in companies like Google, Apple and Facebook are doing all efforts to enhance privacy of their customers for long time and also introducing new security tools. Whether people has encountered some issues of privacy due to services of these companies but still these can be ignored due to their best efforts for maintaining privacy in future (Austin, 2017). Contract This theory is also known as social contract theory. According to this theory, morality is set of rules that allow everyone to live in society together. Furthermore, this theory also believes in the concept that moral and political duties of individuals depend on contract or an agreement among them. In analysis of privacy of content I can say that there is always a contract between business organization and customer that company will maintain holistic privacy and security of their information into its databases. Only on the behalf of this contract, both entities can work together. In this way, on the behalf of above analysis, I can say that the selected media article has similar perspectives according to classical theories. In above discussion, the rightness and wrongness of every action of article is defined properly. Lack of privacy is eventually a critical issue and must be controlled quickly according to requirements. Resolution of Ethical Issue of Privacy The above discussed issue of privacy and security is necessary to resolve. There are several tools and techniques are available that can be used to maintain long term privacy of customers data. As per given in media article, ad blocking is one of the best way to sustain privacy of customers data. Hackers try to attach vulnerable ads with online products and services of organizations and when those products are downloaded by users into their computers, then ads automatically opened and reside virus into database and computers. In this case ad blocker will be helpful to restrict ads to enter into computer systems (Ruslim, 2017). Furthermore, legal action can be taken against privacy violators (Luceo.net, 2017). A new general data protection regulation has set by European Union (Spot.colorado.edu, 2017). Any company or an individual will violate the regulations, they have to pay the fine up to five percent of worldwide revenues. Any kind of security and privacy breach is result of poor performance and bad habits of not follow security measures properly by a user. This is not right and lead to high security issues. It is responsibility of user that he or she should lock their system while not using and it can be done by using login credentials such as username and passwords. The password should be too strong to guess. It is also an effective way to get prevention from data security and privacy. Besides this, anti-virus tools can also be used to prevent virus attacks. Anti-virus is a software that must be installed into computer system. Whenever a new entity enters into computer system then entity can be scanned by anti-virus. If there will be any virus into entity then anti-virus will give alert to user about threat and user can fix that virus. It is one of effective security tools. Like anti-virus, firewall is an in-built software into operating system that also restrict vulnerable objects to enter into system. But it should be in on mode. In business organizations and other workplaces where ICT related applications are used, there above discussed solutions can be used. While purchasing products online, people do online transactions. In this situation, privacy can be leaked of credit card information and personal details of user. Therefore, it is responsibility of merchant to manage customers transactions and find another secure ways to collect customers data. It is suggested by security experts that here loyalty programs can be developed by retailers and e-receipts should be generated appropriately for maintaining records. So these are some significant solutions to resolve ethical issue of privacy. Conclusion In conclusion, all IT giant companies such as Google, Apple, Microsoft and others are serious about security and privacy of their customers data. That is why with its enormous services and products, these are also given priority to high level of protection from cyber-criminals. Not only at developers end but also at users end privacy should be maintained at high level. References Taylor, H. (2017). Privacy will hit tipping point next year: Study. CNBC. The whole concept of a quality science term paper is to describe and event that is aimed at studying while class. In order to be able to write a profound science term paper, you have to be able to seize the whole amount of information given to you while class and also be able to implement something new. It doesnââ¬â¢t have to be substantially new, but still a bit of originality always makes a better science term paper. These tips are more of a general suggestion to every science term paper, and every students needs to remember them and constantly keep them in mind. When you sit down to write a science term paper, the first thing you might want remember, that the whole process of writing a science term paper does not start from writing the paper itself. The main point of giving a science term paper assignment is to force you to plan all your actions and researches. The first thing you have to do is plan the whole science term paper, and make sure that the structure you have developed is profound and corresponds to the topic of your science term paper. The science term paper outline is by far the most important thing in your science term paper as it recommends the way the science term paper topic will be exposed, and the way you are planning to expose it. You must not start writing a science term paper without a proper science term paper structure. When developing a science term paper structure the first thing you need to do is understand what you are writing about. It is a general confusion of all novice science term paper writers. Many students start writing right a way, and think that they will figure out what they are writing about later, and in most cases, either they realize they have been writing the wrong thing themselves, or the professor realizes that when checking their paper. Try Googling your topic beforehand, and make sure you know the topic better than anyone else. The whole idea of writing a science term paper is to maintain a certain structure, so when you have developed the science term paper outline ââ¬â try to avoid jumping from one point to another without any explanation. If you see that the points of outlines are not covered ââ¬â try to rethink the whole paragraph, and make sure the things you write are understandable and 100% clear. Always focus on the main point of your science term paper, and avoid fussing around supporting points. The main objective is your main idea and not the things you use to explain your science term paper. Science is a very complex thing, and in most cases it can very complicated. In order for you to be able to write a good understandable paper you have to use easy words, in order for the reader to be 100% in the topic, and not be distracted by using the dictionary or the internet to understand a quite simple text. The worst issue is when the writer tries to show that he is smarter than the reader by using really hard words, which are not needed. You have to critically evaluate your own text and make sure that the reader will be able to perceive every aspect of your science term paper. One of the most important things in writing a term paper on Science or any other term paper of that matter is originality. And this is referring not only to the information you provide in your science term paper, but the way you provide the information as well. In order to be evaluated at the highest marks ââ¬â try to find your own style of writing and avoid copying someone elseââ¬â¢s. Your science term paper will be shining with intelligence if the text will be written in your own manner, your own style, your own brand. A good way to develop your own style is to avoid any citation, quotes or referencing on the first stage of writing a science term paper. After you have put all your thoughts together ââ¬â you can start searching for some quotes and citation to tidy up your science term paper. Always avoid plagiarism. And plagiarism is not only similarity such as copy pasting, but thoughts and ideas as well. You need to be able to form your own point of view, and if you still decide to use someone elses ideas ââ¬â always cite them, or show as quotes. A good writer always educates the reader, so you have to present something for the reader to carry out of your science term paper, and be sure it is useful, and relevant. Managing Multiple Authors Or Blogs With Tools That Dont Integrate - CoSchedule Blog
Managing Multiple Authors Or Blogs With Tools That Dont Integrate Blog Being an editor or managing a team blog means you have to come up with some kind of system to make it work.à It doesnt matter how many blogs and authors and social media accounts there are. The problem of getting it to all work together has to be solved. So, you solve it as best you can. How do you solve the problem of managing multiple blogs or authors? Most of the solutions weve been hearing about are a bit ad hoc, and use different flavors of the following: Project management systems (e.g. Basecamp) Spreadsheets Cloud notes (e.g. Evernote) Email Calendars (e.g. Google) Were no stranger to this kind of setup ourselves.à Our system of managing multiple blogs and authors has a level of complexity that can be frustrating. The main issue is that while each of those listed components, on their own, are great tools, they dont work together. Used together, they are a solution that creates its own problem. They were meant to be for project management or for note-taking or sending messages or for some other specific purpose, but they were never meant to help you completely manage your team blog. Individual components dont make a whole, unfortunately. Project management systems seem very close to a solution, and thats why so many of you have told us how you try to make them work. They dont, however, have a necessary integration with your WordPress blog and social media accounts, so any data will have to be manually entered before it can be managed. Thats yet another time-consuming step, and another system to manage. Cloudà note-takingà services seem like a good place to brainstorm and jot down ideas, but if they arent shared with the whole team, its easy to forget whats in there. If youre not a careful organizer, its easy to end up with giant notes that serve as idea dumping grounds that are difficult to sift through. Your notes arent specifically connected with a WordPress blog post. Yep. Yet another system to manage. Spreadsheets are also a common tool used to keep data organized, but that data, once organized, doesnt do anything unless you actively revisit and push it around. And yes, again, no direct connection to the actual content in WordPress, so you now have spreadsheets to manage on top of everything else. Email allows you to communicate and share versions of drafts and documents, but the threads can get extremely confusing, especially if you have a large team. Its easy to miss a message in an active thread with people replying to everyone simultaneously. And unfortunately, youll need to manually pull tasks or data out of these email messages. Calendars are often read-only, unless in project management apps. A read-only calendar is great for getting an understanding of whats happening, but making quick changes based on that understanding wont be available. Team members are more likely to make necessary adjustments if it isnt a hassle, and a read-only calendar wont fit that bill. Through sheer force of will, you make these tools work. You become fairly quick and adept at using them, and think that they work. You get used to them, and actually prefer them even if a better option were available.
